Parent Education: Exploring Space through A Child's Perspective
Why is the outdoor environment a child's best teacher? What is the importance of movement, loose parts and open-ended materials? We will explore these child development foundational concepts at our first parent education night!

Time & Location
Oct 04, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Petaluma, 1002 Bodega Ave, Petaluma, CA 94952, USA
About the event
Using examples from Sunbeam Nature School, we will cover topics such as why the natural environment is so powerful for young children and how the environment can meet the needs of individuals while maintaining group cohesion in a mixed setting. The presenter, Shawna Thompson, will share philosophical and developmental foundations and also give parents tips and take-aways for creating low-cost natural play areas at home. This is a reworked version of a day-long workshop recently presented to a room of 100 educators in Tuolumne County.Â
**Childcare available to Sunbeam Co-op Members $10 per hour**
